Testosterone Levels in Your 40’s and Beyond

Your testosterone levels at 40 are way different than they were in your 20’s.

Your testosterone levels at 40 are affected by your age more than you know.

Testosterone, the word of the day, and subject of this site, is responsible for many of the changes you experienced as a teen and it is still responsible for the changes you are experiencing in your 40’s and until you die.

Responsibilities of Testosterone

Testosterone is the main sex hormone in males and it is produced in the testies. It is also produced in females, in the ovaries.  Its main responsibilities as a teen were to stimulate your male secondary sexual characteristics like pubic hair, deepening of your voice, lean muscle mass, lower levels of body fat, and those great sexual desires we all welcome into our lives.

Men, as well as women and children produce testosterone in the body, some greater than others, but they have a tremendous effect your life and how you feel.  If your levels are low there is a good possibility you are experiencing some harmful life distractions.

If you are in your 40’s or older the effect may be intrusive and debilitating.

Testosterone in your 40’s

Testosterone levels peak in your 20’s and after 30, your levels drop 1% to 2% every year.  If you do the math that is 10% to 20% by the time you are 40.  This is just a ball park figure as some levels may decrease more or less.  But, the fact remains you do lose testosterone as you age.

To keep your levels peaking, you need to recognize the signs and symptoms and don’t ignore the fact that testosterone levels in your 40’s may be hampering your lifestyle and making life frustrating.

The body is an exceptional operating system and it will tell you things if you listen.

Low Levels of Testosterone Symptoms

Here are the signs and symptoms to look for when assessing your levels of testosterone:

  • Low Energy
  • Low Libido
  • Loss of Muscle Mass
  • No Sexual Stamina
  • Mood Swings
  • Irritability
  • Erectile Dys
  • Infertility
  • Increased Body Fat

The signs above are easy to spot but they are also signs of other diseases so you should be sure to assess further.

Tips to Assess Your Testosterone Levels

Here are some tips to assess your body and conclude your testosterone levels may be the culprit.

With the above signs in mind, use these tips to figure if your testosterone levels are probably something to work on and repair.

Tip 1

Consider your age.

Are you over the age of 30?  Again, remember after this age your testosterone levels start to diminish and can affect your lifestyle.

Tip 2

Is your diet in check?  Are you eating the right things for increasing testosterone and not prohibiting it?  A diet that aids in building testosterone is different from conventional diets.

Some things that differ are, eating foods higher in cholesterol and higher in fats.  Therefore, I have written an article with guidelines for a good testosterone diet.  Click on the link below or at the bottom of this page to read more about your diet.

Please know without a good diet, your testosterone levels will suffer.

Tip 3

Is your fitness regimen up to par for increasing testosterone?  Your workouts should be hard and include many compound weight training sessions.  Using heavy weight will increase your levels of testosterone and keep them up long after a hard workout.

Are you doing long bouts of cardio which can block testosterone from peaking and help your levels to stay at lower levels.

Here is a testosterone workout guide for you to read and plan for your next workout at home or in the gym.

Tip 4

Are you Taking a Testosterone Boosting Supplement

A natural testosterone boosting supplement should be something you are taking or considering taking.

Next to a diet and exercise plan, supplementation is a great tool to increase your testosterone levels, especially if you are in your 40’s.  They are just what the doctor ordered.

Supplements are just that, a supplement to a good diet and exercise plan.

Look for natural supplements with pure ingredients.  Stay away from synthetic steroid type supplements that can stop the body from producing natural testosterone. These types of supplements are known for tricking the body into thinking it is producing enough and stop making testosterone all together.

I have been taking testosterone supplements for years and researching them just the same.  There are great natural products with awesome natural ingredients that your body and testosterone levels will benefit from.  Below is my in- depth guide to find the right testosterone boosting supplement and some recommendations of the ones with great reviews, awesome scientific research and money back guarantees that you will achieve great results from.

Like I stated above, I have been taking these supplements and researching them for years.

My problems with low testosterone levels started around the age of 36.  I was experiencing infertility problems and low libido issues so I started wasting money on the wrong types of products.

My diet was poor and my exercise program was all wrong too.

After wasting money and time, I started my research and haven’t stopped.  I have helped many people with their testosterone levels and helped myself and my wife conceive after 18 years of trying for a child.

My son is now almost 6 years old and I owe it all to studying, eating right, working out right and I truly believe the supplements had the underlining effect in my successful testosterone transformation and the making of my son.

Therefore, I can ethically say I am confident in my articles and recommendations to increasing your testosterone levels.

I am proud of what I have learned and prod of the fact that I can help people with their testosterone levels too.

Here is a link to my full testosterone supplement guide explaining everything you need to know about testosterone supplements.

  • I really enjoyed reading your article. You gave a lot of valuable information and I definitely learned something from this. I like the fact that you added personal events to it. Which will make the audience feel like they can trust you.

Overall you did a great job on this post. One of the best I have reviewed so far!

    • Thanks for the comments....

I make this personal because it is. It is to help others and talk to others about my life. It is kinda my outlet and my hobby too....

  • Hi Mark,
thanks for a great article! How do we women know that we have too low testosterone levels? Is it the same symptoms as men? I feel very tired and more weak than normal and I exercise every day and eat a proper diet. Can it be because of low testosterone?

    Thanks for your help!
    Best,
    Stina

    • Yes, women are affected in the same ways, although not as much as a male. This is a secondary sex hormone for you and if your thinking you are suffering from low levels, give Testogen a try. There is a money back guarantee, so you cannot lose and you will fell the effects promptly.

  • As I am inching forward to my mid 30s (32 now) I am also concerned about my testerone level dropping. It is a good knowledge as you mentioned testerone is linked to our energy level and body fat. This also inevitably leads to bad health issues such as obesity and heart problems. Thus it is good to keep your testerone at a healthy level to keep your energy up to move more and stay healthy. I am particularly interested in the Testogen you recommended. Seems like there are a lot of nutrients in it!

    • Thank you for your comments and it is good you are thinking about your levels now and not when or if it is too late.

Testogen is great to use now even if your levels are just beginning to drop. They will prevent your levels from dropping right away and can only help your overall health. Not to mention a libido like your 20's, years.

  • Thank you so much for all of this great information! I always knew testosterone went down with age but I never knew how drastic the difference was between ages 20 and 40.

You give some really good tips and advice on this page which I really appreciate. Keep up the great writing!

    • Thanks You for your comments and it is good to hear you enjoyed it. I hope everyone feels the same and sees the importance of your testosterone levels.

  • what great information you have here about testosterone levels, I had no idea at 40 our levels drop that low. I also did not know that are are supplements out there to help that is awesome, I'm was just trying to get out the door so I will be back to check this out again.
How many supplements are available exactly and how are they different?

    • Hello and thank you for the comments.

You hit the nail on the head....Knowledge is one of the biggest reasons, next to denial and embarrassement, for not treating your testosterone levels. If people just knew this information, they would have the chance to change their levels sooner.

  • Maybe it affects more than just testosterone, but for me diet is everything. Bread, dairy, and sugar leave me feeling super sluggish, in addition to basically all of the symptoms you listed in this post.

Testogen seems like the best starter-kit for supplements. If I were to start taking supplements, I would want to start off small, and the other products seem a little too intense for a first-timer.

Either way, I really enjoyed the post! Thanks for the breakdown.

    • Most of the no foods like bread and sugar are definately inhibitors and will make you feel this way.

Testogen is my favorite because it is a nice, natural, blended amount of each ingredient for great results.

Some of the others on my site are just as good, they just use a little more of an extreme advertising method.

The thing to look for is the ingredients, the studies behind the product, and what ingredients are in it. Also, don't forget the reviews. These are the real users of the products and the real result opinions.

  • Is there a certain age when it becomes unsafe to use these testosterone boosters. You mentioned that many people looking for boosts are men in their 40's.

What about the men in their 50's and 60's looking for boosts in testosterone? Is it safe for them to be using the same supplements or lower doses?

Men in their 70's? I am just curious how old it is still safe to be using these as you really get up there

    • No the natural supplements I talk about are for all ages and will actually benefit more as you age even into your 70's.

I would say if you or anyone are suffering different symptoms as explained in my articles, you owe it to yourself to just do it. Don't push it off and wait......

  • This is a great article and easily explains the testosterone levels for people in their 40's, I know a few of my family members that can benefit from this article and will recommend it to them.

Do you have any tips on how to maintain a healthy level of testosterone in their late 20s?

    • Thank You for your comments....

If you know of others that can benefit, please do share this site...

In your 20's you testosterone levels should be peaking. Maintaining a healthy diet and exercise program will even better your chances of keeping them as high as possible. Good luck and keep working out...
